Do-Now: Set THREE goals for yourself for the upcoming school year.  (These goals do not necessarily have to be school-related.)

Objective: SWBAT modernize a scene from "Romeo & Juliet" and present the scene to the class.

Do-Now: Self-Reflection: What grade do you believe you should receive in this class for this semester?  Explain why you feel you have earned this grade.

Today: 1) Your group has until the end of the first class period to prepare your scene.  Make sure you have rehearsed your lines and make sure each group member has his/her own copy of the script.

2) Scene Re-Write Presentations

3) Article: How high school decisions can affect your career.

Exit Slip: What are your reactions to the article?  What are you planning to do after high school?  What decisions have you made this year (or what decisions will you make in the next few years) which you believe will affect your future?  Explain.

Homework: Tomorrow is the last day to submit any and all work for this class before grades go in!!!

Objective: SWBAT modernize a scene from "Romeo & Juliet" and present the scene to the class.

Do-Now: FREE WRITE (Write 5-7 sentences about anything you want)

Today: 1) Who/what is to blame when a student fails?

2) Class will read article, "For once, blame the student."

3) Class will have debate/discussion surrounding the articles' main points.

4) Group Mini-Project: Scene Modernization

Exit Slip: What are you reactions to the article we read today in class?  What points did the article make that you agree with?  What points did the article make that you disagree with?  Explain.  Ultimately, who do you feel is to blame when a student fails?

Objective: SWBAT defend/prosecute a character from "Romeo & Juliet" in the case of Romeo and Juliet's deaths.  SWBAT modernize a scene from "Romeo & Juliet" and present the scene to the class.

 Do-Now: How well do you feel your group performed during your trial?  What do you feel your group did well?  What do you feel your group could have done better?  If your group has not presented yet, what do you feel your group might now do differently based on what you've seen other groups do?  Explain.

Today: 1) Finish trials for "Romeo & Juliet."

Today: 1) Review trial format: Opening Statements, Presentation of Evidence, Counterarguments, Open Debate, Closing Statements, Jury Voting

Today: 1) Opening Statements

2) Finish gathering evidence to prosecute/defend your character.

3) Write your opening statement.

Exit Slip: As a group, submit a copy of your opening statement for tomorrow's trial.
