Do-Now: With a partner, read about Dangling Modifiers on the bottom of pg. 209.  Look at the example on the top of pg. 210 and re-write the sample sentence to correct the dangling modifier: "Depressed and disappointed, running away seemed the only thing for me to do."

2) In groups, read Act 4, Scenes 1-5 pp. PAGE 209-241.  Stop at the bottom of pg. 241 before the First Musician speaks.  Characters: Friar Lawrence, Paris, Juliet, Second Servingman, Lord Capulet, Nurse, Lady Capulet, First Servingman.  Read Act 4 online HERE.

3) As you read, Ms. Winberg will meet with you one-by-one to edit your rough drafts for your Personal Statements.  She will only edit your rough drafts if they are finished!

Exit Slip: Choose ONE of the examples of figurative language you found in Scene 2 and copy it down on your Exit Slip.  Explain what you believe this example means and how it is being used in the play.

EXAMPLE: pg. 89 "Our love, which right now is like a flower bud in the summer air, may turn out to be a beautiful flower by the next time we meet."  In this simile, Juliet compares her and Romeo's love to a flower bud.  This means that their love, like a flower bud, is still new and hasn't grown yet.  This simile is being used to show that, even though their love is new, it may soon grow into something bigger and more wonderful.
