ObjectiveSWBAT evaluate the climax of “Romeo & Juliet” and explain how it represents dramatic and situational irony. 

Do-Now: Summarize the major events in Act 2 of "Romeo & Juliet."

Today: 1) Review situational and dramatic irony.

2) Class will read Act 3, Scene 1 of "Romeo & Juliet."  Read Act 3, Scene 1 HERE.

Exit Slip: Describe the situational and dramatic irony in Act 3, Scene 1 of "Romeo & Juliet."  (Hint: Why was Mercutio's death unexpected?  Hint: What do we know about Romeo and Juliet that Tybalt does not know?)
