Objective: Students will be able to identify run-ons and comma splices in order to turn them into separate thoughts.


Students will be able to evaluate a director’s use of foreshadowing, irony, and characterization in order to determine his purpose for creating a film.

2) Intro to "Fruitvale Station."  How do we determine a director's purpose for creating a film?  How can we evaluate an author's use of foreshadowing, irony, and characterization to determine his purpose for creating a film?

3) Begin watching "Fruitvale Station"

Exit Slip: Characterize Oscar Grant.  What type of person is he?  How do you believe the director wants you to view Oscar?
