Objective: Students will be able to evaluate instances of verbal and dramatic irony in a story in order to determine whether the irony is being used effectively.  Students will be able to evaluate the first-person narration in a story in order to determine if the narrator is unreliable.

Do-Now: Vocabulary Practice #2

1. When might a friend or relative impose on you?

2. What might cause a person to recoil?

3. Describe something you have endeavored to do during the past year.

4. At which age do you believe people are the most obstinate?  Explain.

5. Name a popular book which appears in a succession.

Today: 1) Subject-Verb Agreement Practices 2 and 3.

2) Review dramatic irony, verbal irony, and unreliable narrator (first-person narrator.)

3) Continue reading "The Cask of Amontillado" pp. 176-179, completing the Drawing Conclusions questions # 3-5.
